Here at Bobbo Equestrian we like to give something back. We sponsor a number of riders at different levels from grass roots to national. Our riders are of various ages and abilities and our sponsorship comes in many forms from entries paid to discount in the shop. Every year we run a competition which everybody is free to enter, and from this we choose new sponsored riders. Take a look at this years' sponsored riders and follow their progress throughout this year. Our next competition will be in January 2019 so keep an eye on here or on our Facebook page.
In 2017 we ran a competition to choose our sponsored riders for 2018, the worthy winners were Charlie, Millen and Ayisha. All local riders, we enjoy watching their journeys and supporting them where we can. Stay tuned for updates from the girls as we make our way through the 2018 showing season.
Being a Bobbo Equestrain sponsored rider is a honour the team at Bobbo are extremely helpful and have everything I have ever needed to compete my two horses Fenrose Silver Rebel (Rebel) and Linthurst Limited Edition (Daisy). I compete Rebel up to national level sidesaddle and county level astride, I recently got Daisy who is starting her ridden showing career slowly at local level with the goal of her being my next sidesaddle horse. I am 19 and have been riding since a young age, whilst learning to ride I began helping a family friend on her showing yard. I ended up inheriting the showing bug and never looked back since then I have had a number of different ponies all different breeds and levels, these ponies taught me a lot and I now offer schooling, breaking and am going to be undergoing my sidesaddle grading exams next year.
Hello, my name is Charlie, I'm 15 years old, I've been riding before i could walk, however I havn't been really confident as I only used to ride an old mare that was a dope on a rope and looked after me and took it slow. Now I have a horse called Bobby Dazzler (his real name is Spongebob) he is 13.1hh and 5 years old. I rescued him and at first he was really skinny and didn't let me do a lot with him. We've had a few bad accidents of me falling off and being landed on mainly out on hacks because of people that don't slow down. I had a little break off riding all the time. After a bit I got back on and worked with him we've had some tough times but now we are doing really well we are cantering around the fields and doing competitions its out first ever season, we've had so much support to get all this far, I'm so proud. Unfortunately I'm slowly getting to big for bobby, I will still ride him but not compete as much, this is where my new horse comes in, Midnight Star. Star is a 14.1hh varnish bay Appaloosa mare, shes only 4 so still only a baby, we are doing so well we are training for jumping at the minute, and its all going well so far. I'm so happy to have all the support I have from my sponsors Bobbo Equestrian and friends and family.
Millen has been competing since she was 4 years old. Originally competing on board her lovely miniature shetland, Charlie. Since she became to big for Charlie, Millen has been competing successfully on her 22 year old welsh section A, Bubbles. Millens 2017 season saw her win many overall classes at Long Eaton Riding club. Millen started this year again with Bubbles, however, due to his age and a few slight health issues, she took the decision to retire him. The rest of this season will be spent on board Joey, a 4 year old Blagdon cob, who has only recently been backed. Millens continued drive for success and to be at the top of her game is the reason we continue to support her. She has a fantastic ability and attitude towards caring for her horses and it is always a pleasure to work with Millen.
Strive for success
Martyn began riding again in 2014 after a long break. Benny his faithful partner is 7 years old but teaches Martyn to ride regularly! The duo enjoy competing in hunter trials, arena eventing and local showing where they have been somewhat successful! This year Martyn wants to spend more time in the saddle and less on the floor!
Becky and Jack compete in events throughout the midlands in Arena events, hunter trials and one day events. Becky bought Jack a welsh section D at 1 year old and has produced him herself. After having a fall in 2015, Becky and Jack have worked slowly to bring Jack back into full work, competing in 80cm and 90cm events. This pair work fantastically together and are have been very successful at both local level and in competitions against international competitors.
